Currently Benjamin just wrapped SOUL FLYERS, an intense and action-packed skydiving film from writer/director Bryon Evans. Benjamin plays Lance Hendricks, a member of the reckless Wrecking Crew. The story involves two female detectives that go undercover in the thrilling world of skydiving to find the crew responsible for a series of hi-rise oil company heists. The film was originally intended as a festival short to acquire funding for the feature film. However, during shooting, funding was obtained before the film went to post! The short is rushing post for entry into AFI Dallas and other festivals and the feature is set to start shooting Spring 2008. The film also stars Donny Boaz, Joshua Colson, Shauna Tompkins, Sara Wright and Mark Hanson and features hi-flying stunt footage and Director of Photography, Clay Liford. Recently completed “The Significant Other”, a romantic comedy is currently in post-production but has also been entered into SUNDANCE. Ben plays the supporting role of Jack. The feature is directed by Shalene Portman and features a brilliant ensemble cast. “The Significant Other” is a hysterical romp that takes place in a bed-n-breakfast where… “Love checks-in and sanity checks out”. The making of the film has been featured on CBS nationally syndicated news, CW33 Dallas and The Hollywood Reporter as a ghost appeared in the mirror while shooting in an old Victorian mansion.

Earlier this year, Benjamin read for lead roles in four network pilots. “Law Dogs” from Scott-Free Productions for CBS Casting, “Hackett” for the title role of Tom Hackett for Fox, the role of Peter Carlyle in Hugh Jackman’s now canceled musical series, “Viva Laughlin” for CBS and a new series for MTV. In addition, Benjamin went to producers for a guest star role on “CSI Miami” and “Friday Night Lights”. He was also in consideration for the Kevin Costner film, SWING VOTE. A few months ago he shot the hilarious Farrelly Bros-type romantic comedy, “The Art of the Fart” by writer/director, Somer Coney. Benjamin plays the role of Marcus. An ingenious pre-trailer tool designed to sell the project; “Art of the Fart” is receiving some buzz. Of course, the curious title has nothing to do with it.

Last year, the award-winning ECHOES OF INNOCENCE full-length feature was released on DVD after a limited theatrical release. ECHOES, won nine top awards at eight film festivals. GOLD REMI for DRAMATIC FILM, GOLD SPECIAL JURY AWARD for MUSICAL SCORE and BEST INDUSTRY BUZZ AWARD were given to ECHOES at the WorldFest International Film Festival. In addition, BEST OF FESTIVAL was awarded at the 2005 Envoy Film Festival. Now, ECHOES is available on Blockbuster.com, Netflix, Amazon.com and other retail outlets such as Hollywood Video. Benjamin plays the role of Connelly, a young priest representing the film’s voice of compassion. The film also stars Jake McDorman (Fox’s “Greek”, Live Free or Die Hard, Aquamarine) and Sara Simmonds.
“SWEET HIDEAWAY” Now Available at Amazon.com!
Benjamin stars as supporting lead, Scotti White – A college football star in this feature comedy. Benjamin plays three roles as he tackles the main role of Scotti and two character roles in a hilarious dream sequence (see the clip at Video Clips). The role is challenging as it combines the serious nature of an alternate lifestyle struggle within college sports, with the high antics of slapstick comedy. In 2004, the film was awarded Best Comedy at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. “HIDEAWAY” stars Burton Gilliam (Blazing Saddles, Honeymoon in Vegas), Anthony Johnson (Friday, “O”), Natalie Desselle (B.A.P.S., Eve), Rickey Smiley and a talented cast of newcomers. HIDEAWAY is distributed worldwide through ITN Distribution.
Benjamin had the opportunity to work with Barry Corbin (CW’s One Tree Hill, Northern Exposure, Lonesome Dove). Mr. Corbin played Benjamin’s father and Ben played the role of Hank Walker. “Tin Can Shinny” is a unique short that introduces the feature story regarding a brother’s 1948 promise to his other brother. The following is a quote from one of the producers:
“You did and do great work,
Benjamin. You deserve this role.” - Jerry Averill,
Producer - Casting
“SCREEN DOOR JESUS” just released on DVD through Indican Pictures. Ben shot the role of Jesus in a “David Lynch-style” dream sequence in the film. However, in the festival release, Ben’s scene was cut as the dream visual was decided too disturbing. Perhaps it will be added back in the DVD release. The controversial film is critically praised and has won several prestigious awards. It stars up-and-coming talent and is written/directed by Kirk Davis.
“You can’t wait for Hollywood to discover you… it doesn’t work that way. So, I began producing and assisting others with their projects. It is exhilarating bringing people together and fighting for good projects.”
In addition, Benjamin is co-producing, “Beyond the Farthest Star.” The script is penned by Andrew Librizzi, and is receiving a lot of attention. This screenplay is an amazing work by Librizzi. Sheila Gallien (script consultant whose credits include “Apollo 13” and “Castaway”) says, “…(the) writing, especially the dialogue, is rich and honest, and the relationships are well-drawn.” Funding will begin soon.
Ben continues to study extensively with John Kirby and Cameron Thor in Los Angeles with additional study in Texas with Michele Condrey (R.E.A.C.T.).
